25 March, IPOH – Improvements to the Perak State Housing Policy (DPNP) 2019 which comes into force on April 1, will allow the state government to build more low-cost houses for those in the lower income group in the state.

State Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Villages Committee chairman Paul Yong Choo Kiong, said the state government was targeting to build 5,000 units of low-cost houses within five years.

To date, some 1,200 units of low-cost houses were built in less than a year.

“Although the building of low-cost houses is a huge task involving subsidies besides the high cost of the land, we will try our best to help the hardcore poor and B40 group so that people in Perak can own homes,” he said.

Yong was speaking at a press conference after opening the DPNP 2019 Improvement Briefing organised by the Real Estate Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA), in collaboration with the Perak State Housing and Real Estate Board (LPHP), here today.
