‘Hom2stay’ can boost people’s socio-economic activity – Melaka Exco

27 January, MELAKA – The ‘Home to Stay’ (Hom2stay) programme has the potential to boost the socio-economic activities of the people in the state, especially those in the rural areas, says state Agriculture, Entrepreneurship Development, Agro-Based Industry and Cooperatives Committee chairman Norhizam Hassan Baktee.

He said the programme, a joint venture betwen Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Melaka and Generasi Mudah Berjaya (GMB), would be able to stimulate the state’s economic growth and empower the homestay entrepreneurs in the state.

He told reporters that through the programme, MARA would help the homestay entrepreneurs to be registered so that they could get guidance and consultancy services.

He had earlier launched a Hom2stay entrepreneurship seminar in Ayer Keroh, which was also attended by MARA Melaka director Abd Wahab Yusoff and GMB chairman Suhairi Sulaiman.

Norhizam, who is also the Pengkalan Batu state assemblyman, said although there were more than 1,000 registered Hom2stay entrepreneurs in the state, it was still insufficient to meet the huge influx of visitors in conjunction with Visit Melaka Year 2019.
