Greenland Group Malaysia celebrates Chong Yang Festival in Singapore

Greenland Group Malaysia recently organized its annual “Chong Yang Festival” event on the 16th October 2015 in Chinatown, Singapore.

As one of the world’s top 500 enterprises and leading real estate developers, Greenland Group stays true to its motto “Greenland, creates better life”. Recognising the importance of the “Chong Yang Festival”, which brings families closer together and imparts on the cherishing of elders, Greenland strives to carry out its part in society building by bringing Chinese culture to the world and spreading love within the community.

Held on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month, “Chong Yang Festival” is also called Double Ninth Festival. In Chinese culture, nine is regarded as the number of Yang (which signifies masculinity as opposed to Yin which means feminine). The ninth day of the ninth month is the day that has two Yang numbers, while ‘Chong’ in Chinese means double, giving rise to the name Chong Yang. The festival is celebrated by feasting on Chong Yang cake, drinking chrysanthemum wine, and paying homage to the elderly.

The event this year was filled with exciting activities such as a magic show, complimentary haircuts and massages as well as refreshments. Greenland hopes to continue bringing joy to the public with its annual celebration.
