Gamuda Land to launch green commercial hub, Gamuda Square in October

test

Located in Gamuda Gardens, Gardens Square is a 6.7-acre commercial hub delivering daily needs and essentials to Klang Valley North’s growing catchment. As part of Gamuda Gardens, the commercial centrepiece also benefits from proximity to the township’s upcoming and existing pull factors, such as Gamuda Gardens City Centre (GGCC), its Xploria placemaking initiative, and educational institutions.

Gardens Square comprises 133 double and triple-storey shop and office lots with ample open spaces. Al fresco avenues dubbed The Street and The Alley promote connectivity, while a Central Plaza facing the township’s Central Park offers a platform for community activities.

The commercial hub is designed with sustainability in mind, with car-free lanes emphasising walkability and bikeability. Greenery and trees line The Street, The Alley and common areas, sheltering visitors from sun and rain while cooling ambient temperatures through mindful landscaping design.

Meanwhile, integrated photovoltaic panels deliver renewable energy, and electric vehicle (EV) charger points in basement parking zones encourage the use of sustainable modes of transport.

“When planning places such as Gardens Square, we take into account not just commercial potential, but the needs of future generations as well. Sustainability lies at the heart of our approach, as seen in our key development principles and the Gamuda Green Plan 2025,” said Wong Siew Lee, Assistant General Manager, Gamuda Gardens.

Gamuda Land addresses not just environmental sustainability, but self-sustaining growth and commercial vibrancy within its townships. Gardens Square leverages on Klang Valley North’s strategic location, ensuring the right components are in place to accommodate growing investor, business and residential demographics.

These include the 68-acre Gamuda Gardens City Centre, comprising amenities such as a mall, office tower, hospital, hospitality components as well as Beaconhouse International School, a 9.1-acre campus which will bring the Cambridge International Curriculum at the primary, secondary and IGCSE levels to the township. The gravity-fuelled Skyline Luge activity park will also be sited here.

“The area features a ready catchment population of 340,000 residents within a 15-minute drive. Spending priorities for these households are groceries, essentials and food, and Gardens Square’s tenant mix is specifically tailored for these segments, bringing in fresh retail and F&B options for the community,” said Wong.

Three anchor tenants are in the pipeline, including an established grocer occupying more than 20,000 sq ft as well as a double-storey drive-through fast food franchise, driving footfall even under lockdown conditions.

This targeted tenant mix ensures Gardens Square’s sustainability, with market research firm Stratos Consulting Group identifying supermarkets and take-away operators as retail catalysts in the new normal.

In addition, the township’s Xploria placemaking initiative brings vibrance and energy to the community with exciting attractions such as the Big Bucket Splash waterplay park, donut boat rides in the Central Park and a horseback riding trail by 3Q Equestrian.

Dedicated lanes emphasise walkability and bikeability along Gardens Square’s tree-lined avenues.

Gardens Square is sited within a five-minute walk from nearby components like Gaia Residences and the upcoming GGCC, as well as Sports Arena, the connective heart of the township with lifestyle amenities such as a football pitch and tennis courts, interspersed with art sculpture elements and solar-powered bus stops. These conveniences are placed within easy reach of residents, reducing overall carbon footprints. In addition, an e-tram service will facilitate travel between Gaia Residences, Gardens Square, GGCC and Gamuda Gardens’ Waterfront Village.

By considering the community and natural environment, Gamuda Land caters to the needs of current and future generations. These initiatives also contribute to Gamuda Group’s target for a 10% reduction in transport emissions by 2025 and 35% reduction in urban planning emissions under the Gamuda Green Plan (GGP).

The GGP outlines Gamuda Group’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach, in line with global efforts towards greener economy models. It sets out discrete sustainability targets under its four pillars for all Gamuda Land townships and projects, including commercial developments such as Gardens Square.

Gardens Square’s first phase is set for launch in October 2021, comprising 19 double and triple-storey shops and 19 office lots with connectivity to major routes such as the North-South, Guthrie Corridor and Kuala Lumpur-Selangor (LATAR) Expressways.
