KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — The first apartment created to showcase homes designed by renowned architectural firm, Gehry Partners, is opening at Battersea Power Station.
Gehry Partners, one of the world’s most innovative architectural practice, has designed homes, commercial space and children’s play area for Prospect Place, which forms part of the new High Street at Battersea Power Station.
Battersea Power Station Development Company Ltd Chief Executive Officer Rob Tincknell said that Prospect Place, which was Gehry’s first residential project in the United Kingdom, would offer its first glimpse to the public.
“Everyone involved is delighted to be able to show people the extraordinary craftsmanship and design by this exemplary architectural team which is bringing its world-famous innovation to London,” he said in a statement.
Gehry Partners’ design will comprise a cluster of five buildings, each with a striking sculptural facade inspired by London’s famous John Regency terraces.
Anchored by the distinctive ‘Flower’ building, the design is reminiscent of the billowing sails of ships, the statement said.
The appointment of Gehry Partners, a unique collaboration with Foster + Partners, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting aspect in rejuvenating the Battersea Power Station.
This, according to Tincknell, underlines the vision and confidence which the Malaysian consortium of S P Setia Bhd, Sime Darby Bhd and the Employees’ Provident Fund have brought to the project, it added.
Homes within Prospect Place are available from prices starting at 1.311 million for a 2-bedroom apartment.
