SEREMBAN, 6 December – The initiative was held as part of IJM’s effort in conserving and developing the greenery and environment of the S2 Trail, Seremban 2’s nature trail for the Seremban community during the festive month of December.
An annual event since 2011, IJM GIVE Day Out (GDO) involved all employees from all divisions across Malaysia, India and China to participate in carrying out CSR initiatives of their choice together for one day, with the main focus for this year being environmental preservation.
Mr Hoo Kim See, Senior General Manager of IJM Land (Central Region) said that this event is in line with IJM Land’s strong commitment in “Bringing Life to Ordinary Space”, elevating the standards of living and quality of life of the communities they operate in.
“This year, we would like to raise awareness of the environment, exposing to our people how we can make Seremban 2 – along with every IJM Land developments – livable and, at the same time, appreciate the idea of living among greenery that would emphasise individual’s life to be healthier and joyful; uplifting the spirits of our residents,” said Mr Hoo recently at the development site.
“We are looking to develop S2 Trail becoming the ‘hot spot’ in future for our Seremban community – following the footsteps of S2 City Park and S2 Heights Hill Park – as such IJM Land is expected to participate in these initiatives in the following year to supply the needs and requirements of its nature trail.”
Rolling on the theme of ‘Fun with Nature’, IJM called upon its nature-friendly staff from Seremban to create a bigger impact for the community.
With the supportive participation of 127 IJM staff members from three different divisions (Property, Construction and Industry) in Seremban, different roles for each division will be partaken including purchasing of tools and equipment, printing of banners and signage, provision of safety and first aid, understanding and developing the hiking trail, etc. dedicated towards the development of the S2 Trail and nature conservation.
Following IJM’s GDO 2015 ‘Play around Playground’ where a number of playgrounds and amenities at identified areas were successfully rehabilitated, IJM understands the full commitment of upkeeping and improving the adopted nature trails, and more enhancement work will be done in the coming months to make it more accessible and user-friendly for the residents and visitors to the trail.
“Our business has always revolved around developing communities. Serving these communities through CSR engagements is part of IJM Land’s Sustainability agenda, and caring for the environment and local communities are the key focus of our sustainability framework,” said Mr Hoo.
“As responsible individuals and also in an industry developing and providing homes to others, it is our obligation at IJM Land to work hard in making our developments a comfortable and safe place to live in, and to perform diligently in our roles in order to appreciate and be happy with our surroundings.”
Involving the partnership of Columbia Asia Hospital Seremban (medical support), IJM Land believes that incorporating ‘Fun with Nature’ theme will not only arouse the awareness of the community to save and protect the environment but to also serve as a positive impact in contributing towards a greater society.
Currently, S2 Trail is not open to the public yet, however the project is estimated to be ready by end of 2017. An official announcement will be made to the public once the entire trail has been developed.
