BAGAN DATOH, July 25 — Bagan Datoh will soon be developed under the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) in Perak, said Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Redza Rafiq.
However, development plans for Bagan Datoh, which was included in the NCER in January, were still being discussed.
“The development plans must be studied further. We need to hold dialogues with the local community to find out what sort of development will be suitable.
“We will present the plans to Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir early next month.
The development plans for Bagan Datoh will be similar to those which we implemented for other areas in the northern corridor of Perak,” Redza told reporters at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering officiated by Deputy Prime Minister’s Special Officer Datuk Khairuddin Termizi in Rungkup here Monday.
He said the efforts were in line with the 11th Malaysia Plan framework to strengthen the economy.
“The NCIA has various initiatives and programmes to build and develop the Northern Corridor Region. Our efforts not only focus on physical development but also human and social development,” he said.
Among the initiatives implemented in Perak included the Kamunting Rapid bus service, Career Programme Club at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan King Edward VII in Taiping, the Greater Kamunting development, which included the upgrading of the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari.
Others were the implementation of the Taiping Heritage Trail which contributed more than half a billion ringgit in investments for Taiping.
Bagan Datoh was upgraded to a full district on June 15, 2016.
