CIDB: Be Wary Of Individuals Masquerading As CIDB Officers

KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 — The Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has reminded all contractors to be wary of individuals masquerading as its officers.

In a statement yesterday, CIDB said there had been individuals contacting contractors and asking for a sum of money to solve problems related to their foreign workers.

“The syndicate would call the project manager of a construction company and mentioned that they (syndicate) have the evidence of offence(s) committed by the company.

“The syndicate would then instruct the contractor to make payment on the pretext of approving the express application of the workers’ Green Card or risk being fined a bigger amount under the CIDB Act 520 (Amendment 2011),” the board said.

CIDB also reminded the contractors that all payments could only be made over the counter at all its branches or via online transfer to its CIDB Malaysia account, and not accounts of any individual.

The companies which had been contacted or visited by individuals claiming to be CIDB officers who requested a sum of payment can lodge a report with the board at 1-300-88-2432.
