TELUK INTAN, June 7 – The hope of celebrating this Aidilfitri at their new home for house buyers at a housing project in Kampung Padang Tembak has been shattered as work on basic utilities and infrastructure in the area is not ready.
Questions, however, arose among the house buyers as to how the project could have been issued with the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) and the house keys issued to them when the housing project, comprising medium cost single-storey terrace houses, semi-D and bungalows, is still not fully completed.
Some of the house buyers claimed that the housing developer had forged their documents to obtain full payment of the houses.
They claimed that based on the sale and purchase agreement, they could move to their new home in October last year.
They also claimed that the developer did not comply with the specification provided by the architect, as had been duly agreed, in the building of the project that some of the houses were now damaged, including with cracks on the wall.
The house buyers, who are mostly civil servants, said despite not being able to move into their new home, which they were now paying between RM1,000 and RM2,500 a month, they also had to fork out the monthly rental for the house they were currently staying.
One of the house buyers, Khairul Aufa Mohamed Yusof, 41, said he bought a semi-D house, costing RM325,800, in October 2014, but was not able to move into his new home yet.
“My salary has been deducted since March 2016 (for the housing loan repayment) and the sale and purchase agreement expired on October 2016. When the developer received payment for the house, it was only 60% completed.
“Now, the house keys have been given to the house buyers, but where are the electricity and water meters, even the roads are not ready, and when we want to see the developer, we are given various excuses,” he told Bernama here today.
Another buyer, Halimah Mat Wali@ Mat Aris, 35, also a civil servant, expressed disappointment in not being able to move into her new home, costing RM227,800.
“I cannot move into the new house because it is not ready, but there are already leaks and cracks in the kitchen ceiling.
“When 100% of the government loan has been disbursed to the developer, the house should be ready and there should not be any problem,” she said.
Halimah claimed that based on the sale and purchase agreement, she could occupy the house after two years.
“As the house buyers we are disappointed and wondered how the project has been given the approval. We feel cheated by the developer,” she said, adding that they had engaged a lawyer to file the case at the court.
