Care Luxury Hotels & Resorts eyes more opportunities to grow business

KOTA TINGGI, Jan 10 – Owner and hotel manager, Care Luxury Hotels & Resorts, is still eyeing more opportunities to grow its business nationwide this year and it includes the acquisition of old hotels.

Director Gan Hong Lee said at present the company owned and managed three assets, namely the Hotel Granada Johor Baharu, Tunamaya Beach and Spa Resort Tioman Island in Pahang and launched today, the Desaru Tunamaya Beach and Spa Resort here.

“We are currently in talks with one or two parties that match our business interests. We hope to be able to finalise at least one deal this year,” he told reporters after the launch of the Desaru Tunamaya Beach and Spa Resort last night.

Earlier, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin officially launched the grand opening of the resort, which was originally developed as Damai Desaru Resort, before being taken over by Care Luxury Hotels & Resorts and refurbished.

Gan said the company is always on the lookout for more business opportunities in terms of hotel management, especially in Johor, Sabah, Sarawak and Penang.

“This newest property has a strategic location and is well set to cater to the fast growing business travel and leisure tourist market,” he added.

According to Gan, the average monthly occupancy rate at present stands at about 30 to 40 per cent and expected to grow to more than 60% in a year’s time.

The resort has 134 guest rooms with rates starting from RM400 nett and up to RM1,888 nett.
