Petaling Jaya, August 10: The chair and secretariat of this year’s ASEAN Real Estate Network Alliance (ARENA), the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) will be hosting the ARENA Convention and Exhibition (ACE) 2017 for the first time in Malaysia, from 25 – 27 August 2017 at the Berjaya Times Square.
ARENA is a regional grouping of eight national real estate associations across ASEAN with the aim of fostering greater collaboration within the real estate fraternity.
The conference will discuss cross-culture practises, skills and knowledge to allow real estate practitioners the opportunity to expand and have a greater regional reach. ACE 2017 is expected to draw over 600 real estate practitioners from the eight ASEAN countries, i.e: Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar as well as the USA and the UK.
Bearing the theme, “making friends and connecting businesses”, ACE 2017 is also aimed at supporting Malaysian real estate practitioners to look beyond borders and cross sell properties in other markets. This will also help provide access to alternative markets to address the current economic uncertainties in the local property market.
As explained by Soma Sundram, Organizing Chairman and Secretary General for ACE 2017, “With intra-ASEAN trade valued at USD 305 billion in 2015, there are many opportunities to conduct property-related investment throughout the region. Currently, ASEAN is expected to grow economically at 5% per annum, compared to the global growth rate of 3.5% per annum.”
Undoubtedly, ACE 2017 is the best platform for regional counterparts to engage with one another. Eric Lim, Chairman of Council of Presidents for ARENA and President of MIEA shared that there will be networking opportunities and breakout sessions where representatives from each of the eight countries will explain more about their country’s policies and laws relating to property investment. This will enable attendees to discuss cross-cultural business practices and understand the real estate business better.”
A number of themes will be covered in ACE 2017 such as how to do cross border sales, using technology as the latest real estate method to market properties and showcasing hotspots in Malaysia to attract foreign investment.
The speakers’ list boasts notable names which include Dato’ Sri Matthew Yeoh, Founding member of ASEAN Legal Alliance; Kumar Tharmalingam, Senior Advisor of AREA Management Sdn Bhd; Chris Dietz, Executive VP (Global Operations) of Leading R and Dr Sopon Pornchokchai, President of the Thai Appraisal Foundation.
ACE 2017 is supported by main sponsors Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) and Bukit Bintang City Centre (EcoWorld).
