Set to be announced on 25th October 2013 and with the theme “Fulfilling Promises, Accelerating Transformation”, Malaysians are certainly waiting with bated breath to see what goodies will be unveiled for Budget 2014.
Will there be an increase in the Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT)? Will GST be introduced? Will there be better schemes on affordable housing introduced? These are just some of the many questions Malaysians are pondering on.
To gauge just what Malaysians are hoping Budget 2014 will deliver, iProperty.com Malaysia conducted a two week survey online. Gathering over 1,000 respondents, the survey findings revealed that:
1) Close to half of the respondents would like the government to introduce other effective housing schemes by taking into account affordability, inflation and review of current income levels and then introduce other effective schemes.
2) 54 per cent were divided in their response on wanting the RPGT to be increased and being fine with the way it is. Only 39 per cent of respondents wanted to see a decrease.
