KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 — Bina Puri Holdings Bhd has joined the rank of concerned contractors undertaking the construction of affordable homes to enable the lower income group to have a roof over their heads.
The Group received a Letter of Award for the role of project management consultant from Arus Sutera Sdn Bhd for to design, build and complete 440 units of 5-storey walkup apartment for Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) in Pitas, Sabah.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Bina Puri Holdings Bhd said the award received through its wholly-owned subsidiary Bina Puri Sdn Bhd. The contract sum is at RM80 million and the project is to be completed within forty-two (42) months.
It will have 6 blocks of walk-up apartments; of which 5 blocks will be 5-storey high with 80 units in each block and 1 block 5-storey high with 40 units. Other facilities includes A Community Hall, A Kindergarten, A Surau and 552 units of parking lots.
Group Executive Director Matthew Tee said the Group looked forward to securing more projects soon; In line with the recent budget where construction being one of the major beneficiaries with a targeted growth in excess of 8%, the Group is confident that we will be one of the major players especially with our presence in Sabah, Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur and Johor, the four main growth cities identified in the 11MP, he said in a statement.
Last week, its wholly-owned subsidiary Bina Puri Sdn Bhd together with PPES Works (Sarawak) secured the proposed development and upgrading of Pan Borneo Highway, Sarawak (Phase 1 from Sg Awik Bridge to Bintangor Junction) from Lebuhraya Borneo Utara Sdn Bhd with contract sum of RM1.359 billion and is be to be completed in 47 months.

The project is expected to contribute positively to the net assets and earnings of Bina Puri group for the financial year ending 31 December 2016.
