Biggest 4x4 challenge in Johor to take place in Sunway Iskandar

RM 30,000 up for grabs for off-roaders, proceeds to go to fund access to education.

29 March, SUNWAY ISKANDAR – The Johor Jaya 4X4 Club and Sunway Iskandar announced a collaboration today, to host the Club’s 14th Johor Off-Road Charity Challenge 2018, at Sunway Iskandar’s Sales Gallery, which is to be the biggest of its kind in the state.

The Johor Off-Road Charity Challenge 2018 has cash prizes totalling RM 30,000 up for grabs, is set to take place from April 27-29 and will be held in Sunway Iskandar’s The Marketplace precinct, next to the current development site for SJK (C) Cheah Fah.

There will be four categories for the competition, open body class, buggy class, original class and camping class according to the types of 4×4 vehicles.

Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Chairman of Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs of Johor, will flag-off the event on April 27.

President of the Johor Jaya 4X4 Club, Datuk Wong Chen Chuong said, ” We are honoured to have Sunway Iskandar’s partnership and sponsorship for this event which will bring together four-wheeled drive enthusiasts from across the state in the largest event in the entire state of Johor for the year,”

“We are expecting over 800 participants and a crowd of 3,000 over the three days. The event will culminate in a charity dinner on April 29; the proceeds of which will go towards supporting an education fund.”

Chief Marketing Officer, Sunway Property, Dr Gerard Kho, said, “The sustainable economic growth of the Johor state has always depended on close partnerships between businesses, government agencies, investors and other stakeholders working together.”

“As one of the largest stakeholders in Iskandar Puteri, Sunway Iskandar is pleased to be a partner of the Johor Off-Road Charity Challenge 2018. We hope to see the event promote the state’s eco-tourism opportunities, build relationships between stakeholders, and assure future economic growth by supporting access to education for the youth.”

Registration fees for the Challenge range from RM100 to RM600. Registration fees for camping vehicles will be RM 300, registration fees for standard vehicles will be RM 100, while registration fees for cabin vehicles and buggy vehicles are RM 600 each. At the same time, a straight-line/street racing competition has also been added this year. The registration fee for the specific event is RM100.

To add interest to this year’s challenge, the organisers will also host a photography and drone video competition. Photo and video enthusiasts can sign-up for the competition on the site, and submit their creative shots to the organizer to win prizes. Registration fee for this competition is RM 50.

All contestants will be receiving t-shirts for the challenge. First to fifth prize winners will receive trophies, medals and cash, while fifth to tenth place winners will receive medals.
