1,150 Players Entered Into SkyWorld Chess Tournaments

20 June 2017 (Kuala Lumpur) – City developer, SkyWorld Development Group (“SkyWorld”) hosted two weekends of friendly chess tournaments in its aim to connect the community and cultivate a healthier activity for the children. More than 1,000 grade-schoolers registered and pulled out their chess boards for a tournament co-organised by SkyWorld and Mega Chess Academy.

• SkyWorld hosted two chess tournaments over two weekends – connecting the community and cultivating healthy activities.

• 760 players registered for the Chinese chess faceoff at SkyWorld Property Gallery @ Bukit Jalil on 11 & 12 June 2017.

• Whilst 390 players took part at the English chess tournament at SkyWorld Property Gallery @ Setapak on 18 June 2017.

Mr Lee Chee Seng, COO of SkyWorld shared, “It was great to see the community comes together for a good & healthy cause. These are more than just chess games – the tournaments connect the community and taught these youngsters about personal responsibility, sharpen their minds and developed personal relationships with their peers. They also learnt about consequences of their actions on the chess board. They have become so immersed in the game, with its infinite number of possible moves, that when these students finished playing chess, they go home — and play more chess….”

Tournaments run down:

1. 11 & 12 June 2017 – Chinese Chess Tournament @ SkyWorld Property Gallery @ Bukit Jalil 760 registrants, age between 8 to 18 years old took part in the 2-day Chinese Chess Tournament. The competition starts at 8:30 am and ended at 6:00 pm. More than RM6,700 prizes were won by winners from 3 categories. Parents who showed up to support their children were also treated to artistic crystal-clear candles and caricature mementos.

2. 18 June 2017 – English Chess Tournament @ SkyWorld Property Gallery @ Setapak 390 registrants, age between 8 to 16 years old took part in the 1-day English Chess Tournament. The competition starts at 8:30 am and ended at 6:00 pm. More than RM3,000 cash, medals, and certificates were won by winners from 4 different age categories. Parents who showed up to support their children were also treated to unique caricature mementos.
