21 October, KUALA LUMPUR – The Housing and Local Government Ministry has set its sights on tackling the issue of illegal brokers.

Its Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said it was sad to note that not even one illegal broker had ever been charged in any court.

“I am concerned that such brokers are having a time of their life in practising illegally, resulting in the public being cheated or misrepresented,” she said at the National Real Estate Awards and Gala Dinner here tonight.

The text of her speech was read out by her deputy, Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad Shah.

Zuraida noted that as it was a housing-related issue, she was willing to discuss the matter with the relevant entities on how best to mitigate the problem to ensure the real estate practice was safeguarded.

“I wish to stress that… we have no place for illegal brokers,” she added.
