The MM2H Programme, is initiated, organized, and launched by the Malaysian Government to accord people from overseas to stay in Malaysia on a social visit pass (10 years) with a multiple entry visa.
There are many reasons why Malaysia is an ideal destination to retire or live for an extended period of time. Here are some of the many reasons given by the applicants:-
• A place where they can retire early and comfortably.
• High standard of living with a relatively low cost of living.
• Quality residences are available all over the country.
• Diversity in food and culture.
• The best thing is that they can still retain their citizenship and all its privileges in their own country.
• They can come and go as they wish. There is no restriction on their stay and traveling.
So far, approximately 10,000 people have been approved for the MM2H Programme from year 2002 –2006 and it continues to generate a lot of interest from people around the world. From January to April 2007, the Top 5 countries of Approval include UK, Japan, Bangladesh, Republic of Korea, and China.
Eligibility
It is open to all foreign citizens of countries recognized by Malaysia. Applicants can bring along their spouse and children as dependents (below 18 years old and is not married). However, foreigners who are married to Malaysians are not eligible for this programme but may apply to stay in Malaysia under the Spouse Programme.
Effective 1st June 2007, all MM2H applications are to be submitted through licensed MM2H agents only.
